Tooth staining and tartar buildup are very common dental challenges.  While they may seem like cosmetic concerns, they are important signals as to what is happening in your mouth and your body.

Tooth stain is caused by everyday foods and drinks, nutritional supplements/herbs, plaque left behind on the teeth, gut dysbiosis, and certain oral habits. Tartar develops when bacterial plaque hardens and can no longer be removed with tooth brushing alone. Over time, this buildup irritates the gums, contributes to inflammation, and increases the risk of gum disease and cavities.

This is why your regular tooth cleanings and routine dental wellness care at WDH matter!  Your wellness dental visits provide a valuable window into your overall health. In addition to evaluating for cavities and gum health, we dive beneath the surface looking at airway, bite alignment, inflammation, lifestyle, systemic health, and so much more. Your mouth is deeply connected to your overall health, wellness, and longevity and we take that connection seriously.

If tooth stain or tartar buildup is something you are working on, give these make-at-home recipes a try.  They will support a cleaner, brighter teeth and a healthier whole body.  We look forward to seeing your radiant smile at your next wellness visit!
